Tasmanian upstart punk quartet A. Swayze & The Ghosts have released their debut LP Paid Salvation. The album was produced and recorded by Dean Tuza (Stella Donnelly, These New South Whales) in Melbourne, mixed/mastered by me at Studio Windows in NYC, and features their previous big singles “Suddenly” (which came out on Rough Trade) and “Connect To Consume” (which is featured on the new Tony Hawk Pro Skater). Press has been raving about the band, with features in The Guardian (who gave the “end-to-end faultless” debut a 5-star review), Mojo (“this adrenalized debut’s handful of instant classics is way above par throughout” – 4/5 stars), and NME (“an intelligent, considered and passionate collection of art punk anthems with a smirking pop edge”). I was looking forward to seeing them this spring at SXSW and can’t wait to check out this band live – I imagine this album will only heighten anticipation worldwide. Paid Salvation is out now on Ivy League Records.
