Liars are back with “Sekwar”, the first single from their upcoming album The Apple Drop. The track premiered on Marc Riley’s BBC6 Radio show, and was featured across Pitchfork, Stereogum, Rolling Stone, NME and more. I had the pleasure of meeting Angus through his remix of P.E.’s “Top Ticket” and our Talkhouse interview, and our communications continued onto pandemic-era home-recording tips, production ideas, and eventually mixing. The Apple Drop was recorded at Oceanic Studio with Laurence Pike and Cameron Dyell, and at home by Angus Andrew; I mixed the record at Studio Windows, and it was mastered by Lachlan Carrick at Moose Mastering. I may be biased, but as a long-time fan of the group, I can say that y’all are in for a treat with this one! Check out “Sekwar” below, and head over to Mute’s shop to see the wide array of wares available around the release. The Apple Drop is out August 6 via Mute Records.
