Reggie Watts: A Live at Central Park premieres this Friday night (May 11) at 1 AM on Comedy Central. The special was directed by Duncan Skiles (who did The Fuzz and edited the doc Still Life that I mixed a while back) and it’s a cool stand-up/musical/narrative mish-mash of absurdity. I mixed it earlier this year, and always laughed at the end of this clip I posted…. that’s what goes through my head now anytime I think of Staten Island.
A couple new songs from some records I had worked on came out today, which was really exciting. Pitchfork posted new tracks from the upcoming Fergus & Geronimo record Funky Was the State of Affairs, “Roman Tick” and its intro/aside “The Strange One Speaketh”. I recorded the album with those guys last fall and had a total blast – we did the album purely analog at the Seaside Lounge, and it was one of the best recording experiences I’ve been a part of. The album sounds nuts, I’m psyched to see it coming out August 7th on Hardly Art. Check this out:

The first track from Junk Culture‘s upcoming Wild Quiet debuted today too. I mixed the record earlier this year, and am a really big fan of this one. I love Deepak’s songs and production on this record, and I’m really pleased with the way everything turned out. It comes out July 31 on Illegal Art. The song’s called “Oregon” and came out, fittingly I suppose, on the Portland Mercury blog.

On a personal note, I got engaged over the weekend to my girlfriend Lauren Gregory. Not to get too gushy, but aside from being a great friend and a lovely human being, she is also an incredibly gifted painter and animator. If you haven’t already, you should check out some of her work.
