Adam Lytle (Wild Leaves/Quicksilver Daydream) has released his debut solo record This Is The Fire. The album is full of lush ballads anchored by nylon string guitars, gorgeous string arrangements, and impressionistic narratives. It was written & produced by Adam, and features string arrangements by Trey Pollard, drums & percussion by Ryan Jewell, and guitar & bass by Cameron Kapoor, James Preston, and Scott Colberg. This is the third record that Adam & I have worked together, and he trusted me to shape the arrangements as I mixed & mastered the album at Studio Windows. This Is The Fire a truly beautiful record, and is available now on limited edition vinyl & cassette.

“Highway Nightmare” is the first single from singer-songwriter Adam Lytle and his album This Is The Fire. Adam previously led Quicksilver Daydream and Wild Leaves (both of whom I also worked with), and this marks his solo debut. Adam produced the album and recorded much of it himself, with Trey Pollard (of Spacebomb fame) providing string arrangements and Ryan Jewell holding down drums & percussion; I mixed & mastered the record at Studio Windows. The album is beautiful and haunting – with dramatic strings and a mix of acoustic & electric instrumentation – and I’m impressed with the work done by Adam & his crew. Check out the single now; This Is The Fire comes out October 20.

Constant Smiles – the ever-changing project of singer-songwriter Ben Jones – is back with “In My Heart”, the first single of their upcoming LP Kenneth Anger. Shared by Brooklyn Vegan, Northern Transmissions, and others, the track came with tour date announcements (including the NYC record-release show at Union Pool, where I will be performing with the band) and a beautiful video by Samuel Jerome Mason. Ben recorded much of this record himself, with various contributions by a wide range of musicians (including Ryan Jewell on drums); I edited, mixed, and mastered the LP with Ben at Studio Windows last summer. The single (and album as a whole) features more prominent electronics in the sound, while retaining the intimacy and directness of Ben’s writing from previous records like 2021’s Paragons. Kenneth Anger is out March 3 via Sacred Bones Records.
