NYC punks Native Sun have just released their debut full-length album Concrete Language. The album’s been getting great reviews – 8/10 in Clash Magazine (“one heck of a ride [that] reflects the exuberance of this band’s live performance”), Album of the Week in Tinnist, and write-ups all over the place – and filling up playlists with various singles. The album was recorded by Jeremy Snyder (Pure Adult) and me at various locations across Brooklyn (Studio G, La Fam, Academy Fight Songs, Studio Windows), mixed by me at Studio Windows, and mastered by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound. It’s wild to think that this is their debut (they already have a handful of singles & EPs to their name), but the time & energy was well spent putting this one together. The band is going on tour with Bass Drum of Death in the US before heading over to the UK for a stretch there – the live show rips! Concrete Language is out now on TODO Records.

NYC rockers Native Sun are back with “Squash”, their second single on the newly launched TODO Music. Magnet Magazine premiered the song & video – writing that the track “neatly encapsulates the New York City quartet’s arty, melodic take on classic punk and garage rock” – with Flood, Dork, and It’s Psychedelic Baby picking up the release as well. The band recorded the basic tracks with Jeremy Snyder (Pure Adult) at Studio G; I worked with the band on production, vocals & overdubs, and mixing at Studio Windows; and Joe LaPorta mastered the song at Sterling Sound. This track came an incredibly long way from where it started, and I love where it ended up! “Squash” is out now on TODO Music.

NYC’s Native Sun are back with the banger “I Need Nothing”. Flood Magazine premiered the track, calling it “grooving psych-rock”, and God Is In The TV says “the single pulsates with a confident swagger”. I produced this track with the band, which came about when I asked them if they had any “groovers”… we recorded the rhythm section and stone-cold vocals over a beat by Jeremy Snyder (Pure Adult), with layers of wild guitars & synth slathered on top. Joe LaPorta mastered the track at Sterling Sound, and it’s one of the first releases on the brand new TODO Records. Check out the video below, and snag the track on Bandcamp.

NYC punks Native Sun are back with the brand new single “Too Late”. Praised by So Young Magazine as having “an enviable, electric attitude”, the track is the first of a new batch of songs the band has been working on over the past year. “Too Late” was produced by Walter Schreifels (Quicksand, Rival Schools) and recorded by Jeremy Snyder at Studio G; additional production and recording was done by Rob Guariglia at Meserole Sound Studios; with final overdubs, mixing and mastering done by me at Studio Windows. “Too Late” is out now on Grand Jury Music, more coming soon!
